As you all know, i started reading linux books to get rid of the 'newbie' tag. Here are some of the notes i have taken. I hope these notes would be useful for other beginners.

Files Structure
/bin = standard programs
/boot = linux kernal
/dev = device drivers
/lib = libraries
/etc = configuration files
/opt = commercial software
/tmp = temporary files
/sbin = system admin commands (safe bin)

Shell Commands
------- Directory Commands
pwd
cd
cd .
cd ..
cd - (minus, it will toggle through last two directories)
cd ~

dirs
add dir to "dirs" by usings "pushd" command as many as you want
dirs -1
dirs -2
dirs -3

Command History 
"!d" will execute last command starting with "d"
"!!" will execute last command
"history"  eg. history 10
".bash_history" all history is saved in this file.

Variable eg.
MYNAME="i am a string\n"
printf "$MYNAME"

Multiple commands on a single line by adding ";" "&&" "||"
