			<description><![CDATA[<p>Hello Everyone.</p><p>As you all know, i started reading linux books to get rid of the &#039;newbie&#039; tag. Here are some of the notes i have taken. I hope these notes would be useful for other beginners.</p><p>Files Structure<br />/bin = standard programs <br />/boot = linux kernal<br />/dev = device drivers <br />/lib = libraries<br />/etc = configuration files<br />/opt = commercial software<br />/tmp = temporary files<br />/sbin = system admin commands (safe bin)</p><p>Shell Commands<br />------- Directory Commands<br />pwd<br />cd <br />cd .<br />cd ..<br />cd - (minus, it will toggle through last two directories)<br />cd ~</p><p>dirs<br />add dir to &quot;dirs&quot; by usings &quot;pushd&quot; command as many as you want<br />dirs -1<br />dirs -2<br />dirs -3</p><p>Command History&nbsp; <br />&quot;!d&quot; will execute last command starting with &quot;d&quot;<br />&quot;!!&quot; will execute last command<br />&quot;history&quot;&nbsp; eg. history 10<br />&quot;.bash_history&quot; all history is saved in this file. </p><p>Variable eg.<br />MYNAME=&quot;i am a string\n&quot;<br />printf &quot;$MYNAME&quot;</p><p>Multiple commands on a single line by adding &quot;;&quot; &quot;&amp;&amp;&quot; &quot;||&quot;</p><p>I did have couple of questions for you, but google answered them all.</p>]]></description>
