Three days ago Etisalat started blocking http://news.ycombinator.com/ .  That's a great site, and has nothing to do with criminal hacking activity.  It was started by Paul Graham, and focuses on Open Source, Tech Startups, and Hacking in the best sense of the word.

I invite you to join me in petitioning Etisalat to unblock the site.  I imagine they pay attention to how many unblock requests are received for a given site, so your help would be greatly appreciated.  The Etisalat block/unblock feedback form is here:

My ref number is 4264491, and here's what I gave them as Justification:

This site is about new technology and business, and in no way disrespectful of local custom and law. 

I believe it was blocked by SmartFilter because it uses the word "Hacker" in its title.  That is most unfortunate, because there is nothing there about the illegal "hacking" at all.  The use of the word "hacker" these days often means "technology enthusiast" instead, and that is the usage here.
