Topic: PHP Content Management Systems

Dear Members,

I've been searching for using a PHP CMS as a main one, but I'm a bit confused on which one to choose !
As you may know, there's many of them.

Please tell me your ideas about it ..

Cheers,
Ehsan

Joomla
I have not used it. There are lots of modules available. Heard good things about it. Open source and easy learning curve.

Expression Engine
Comes with a price tag. ($250) but good technical support.  Expression Engine 2 is developed in CodeIgniter (PHP framework) from scratch and going to release soon.  I have used for only for a site.

Drupal
Opensource and very active community. Steep learning curve, but many books and resources available online. I have been using it for a year. There are lots of modules available.

And if you have basic PHP background, i would suggest you to go with Drupal.

Not my area of expertise, but I've used Drupal and I'm pretty happy with it.  I agree with noussh's views.

One good thing about Drupal is they don't use a different language for templates, just plain PHP.

The last time I tried it, beginner style Drupal is pretty lame, but it gets more powerful as you start adding modules, create your own content types using CCK, and control output using Views.  That's the steep learning curve.

Re: PHP Content Management Systems

Drupal is the best opensource PHP based CMS out there, as per my experience. It is a powerful, high performance platform so that you can use your 'Playful cleverness' on it. Old drupal versions are same as old Linux in case of  user experiance smile .  But drupal 6 - almost done some good job in user experience level. With drupal 7 it will go as ultimate CMS

Re: PHP Content Management Systems

I just built a website for some friends with Papaya CMS.
Quite easy to handle and looks fresh.
